Career Badger ("we", "our", "the Service") is an AI-powered career co-pilot that helps users build and improve their CVs. In this policy, "the Service" means the websites, web application, and any related services operated by Walden Pond Consulting Limited. Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Data Controller

Career Badger is a trading name of Walden Pond Consulting Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 16690000, registered office 23 Fritillary, 2 Scena Way, London, SE5 0BD. Walden Pond Consulting Ltd is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. 1. Data We Collect

  • Account information: When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address.
  • CV data: Information you provide during conversations to build your CV, including work experience, education, and contact details.
  • Chat messages: The messages you send within the Service to interact with the AI assistant. These messages are sent to Anthropic's Claude AI API for processing.
  • Uploaded documents: CVs or other documents you upload for review. CV content is sent to Anthropic's Claude AI API for analysis.
  • Career objectives: The career goals you select during onboarding, used to personalise AI-generated CV feedback.
  • Voice input (optional): If you click the microphone button to dictate a message, your audio is streamed to Deepgram for live transcription. Audio is not stored after the transcript is returned. The microphone is only active while you keep the page open and is released as soon as you stop.
  • Billing information (Plus subscribers only): When you subscribe to Plus, our payment processor Stripe collects your payment-card details and billing information. We never see or store your full card number. We receive a Stripe customer reference, your subscription status, and the last four digits of your card, so we can show your plan and issue receipts.

2. How We Use Your Data

  • To provide personalised CV building and review assistance.
  • To maintain your conversation history so you can continue where you left off.
  • To authenticate your account and keep it secure.
  • To manage your Plus subscription, process payments, and send billing receipts (Plus subscribers only).

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

3. AI Data Processing

Career Badger uses Anthropic's Claude AI API to provide AI-powered CV review and improvement suggestions. Before accessing AI features, you will be asked to provide explicit in-app consent. The following data is sent to Anthropic for processing:

  • CV content: Your work experience, education, professional summary, and contact details.
  • Career objectives: The career goals you provide during onboarding.
  • Chat messages: Messages you send to the AI assistant within the Service.

This data is sent to Anthropic solely for the purpose of generating personalised CV feedback and career advice. Anthropic does not retain your data beyond the duration of the API request session. Anthropic does not use API inputs to train its models. For more information, see Anthropic's Privacy Policy.

4. Third-Party Services

  • Supabase: We use Supabase for authentication and to securely process AI requests. Supabase Privacy Policy.
  • Anthropic (Claude AI): Your chat messages are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate responses. Messages are processed in accordance with Anthropic's Privacy Policy. Anthropic does not use API inputs to train its models.
  • Deepgram (voice transcription): When you use the microphone to dictate a message, your audio is streamed to Deepgram for real-time speech-to-text. Deepgram does not retain audio or transcripts after processing and does not use customer data to train its models. See Deepgram's Privacy Policy.
  • Apple / Google Sign In: Authentication is handled by Apple or Google. We only receive the name and email you authorise.
  • Stripe (payment processing): If you subscribe to Plus, Stripe processes your payment. Stripe is PCI-DSS compliant and handles all payment-card data; Career Badger never receives your full card details. Stripe's Privacy Policy.
  • Google Analytics 4 (website only, with consent): If you accept the cookie banner on careerbadger.io, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate traffic patterns and which CTAs visitors interact with. IP addresses are anonymised and no personally identifiable information is sent to Google. You can decline at any time and we won't track you. Google's Privacy Policy.
  • PostHog (app product analytics): Inside the Career Badger app we use PostHog to understand how features are used (for example page views and when a CV is downloaded), so we can improve the product. Data is hosted in the European Union, we do not record your screen, and we keep collection minimal. We process this under our legitimate interest in improving the service. 5. Data Storage

Your account information (name, email, sign-in provider) is stored securely on our servers via Supabase. Your CV content and chat history are stored on your device. Messages and CV content are sent to Anthropic only at the moment a response is needed, and are not retained by Anthropic afterwards.

6. Data Retention

Your CV content and chat history stay on your device until you sign out or delete your account. Signing out clears the data stored on your device but leaves your account active so you can sign back in. Deleting your account, via Settings → Delete Account, permanently removes your account, CV content, chat history, and any associated data from our servers and from your device. Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

Billing records, including subscription invoices, payment history, and your Stripe customer reference, are retained for at least six years after your most recent paid period, as required by UK accounting and tax rules. These records are kept even after account deletion, and then deleted.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you. Email us and we will respond within 30 days.
  • Permanently delete your account and all associated data, at any time, via Settings → Delete Account in the Service.
  • Withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account or by discontinuing use of the Service.

The right to erasure does not extend to billing records we are legally required to keep for tax purposes (see Data Retention above). These are retained for the required period and then deleted.

You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.

8. Children's Privacy

Career Badger is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from users under 18.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
